Clearfield Swimming "Athletes - of - the - Week"
&              Present ~
Each week more or less, when school is in session, The Progress daily newspaper & Jim's Sports Center
team up to confer the "Athlete-of-the-Week" honor on a pair of kids, one boy & one girl, from "Progressland."

When a Clearfield Swimming Athlete is chosen we post it here as well. I've tried to gather up all of the entries since
the beginning, though I may have missed some. You can click on any of them for a slightly larger image and the
Red stars link to the original tribute post.  We think we have them all now, but let us know of any we've missed.

The context: As I'm sure every visitor to this site is aware, Sloan & Derek are
husband and wife and both are on the faculty at Clearfield Junior-Senior High School.
Derek is currently the Lady Bison Softball Head Coach and Sloan was formerly
LB Volleyball Head Coach. This was Derek's only appearance as "Athlete-of-the-Week"
while Sloan was featured five times, three times for Volleyball and twice for Softball.
Her five times to be so honored seems to be the most appearances by any one
athlete. Her younger sister Leann Bell was also honored twice.
The above entry is from Spring 2008 when Derek was playing Baseball at
C.H.S. and Sloan was a Softball standout at West Branch.
Small world we have going here.

Jazlynn joins older sisters Jessica (2010) & Alexis (2018) here on the "AOTW" roster.

We have had three siblings before; Claire, Paige & Luke Mikesell (plus cousin Raegan).
We have other pairs of siblings; Amber & Brandi Centi, Lauren & Paige Conrad
and Chase & Karli Bietz. And we've had a few individuals make repeat
appearances - Shay Flanagan, Carolyn Shurer, Marissa Howell, Paige Conrad,
Paige Mikesell - but the Shomo girls are the only three sisters to be so honored.

Clearfield Swimming truly is a "Family Affair."
